# How to create a spike in Jira

> To create a spike in Jira, log in to your account, determine your project on the dashboard, and select Project settings. Choose the Issue types tab, click Add issue type, select Create issue type, fill in the details, choose an icon, and click Create to finish.

## Steps

1. Log in to your Jira account.
2. On your dashboard, determine the project you want to make a spike issue.
3. Select "Project settings" on the bottom left of the screen.
4. Proceed by choosing the "Issue types" tab.
5. Click on "Add issue type" to move forward with the next step.
6. Select "Create issue type."
7. Fill in accordingly. Click "Change icon" and pick the desired image, then proceed by selecting the "Create" button.
8. You have now created a Spike Issue. You can now fill in the necessary data as desired.
