# Salesforce how to access owd in salesforce

> To access organization-wide defaults (OWD) in Salesforce, click the Gear icon to open Setup, search for and select Sharing Settings, click Edit, set the Internal and External Access defaults, and hit Save.

## Steps

1. Click on the Gear icon on the top right and select Setup .
2. Search for Sharing Settings in the Quick Find and select it.
3. You will find the organization-wide defaults (OWD) page. Click on Edit to make changes as per your requirements.
4. Set the 'defaults' definitions for Internal and External Access.
5. Hit Save.
