# How to Add a Pause in Descript

## Steps

1. Open your Descript project.
2. Make sure you're on the timeline where your audio or video is located.
3. Right-click on the part of the timeline where you want to add the pause.
4. Select "Add gap clip" . This will insert a brief silence/ gap at that location.
5. You can adjust the duration of the silence by dragging the edges of the silent clip on the timeline.
