# How to Add Alt Tags to Images in Wordpress

> To add alt tags to images in WordPress, navigate to Media in your dashboard, upload a new image file, and select Edit. Next, enter a descriptive text in the Alt Text field located in the right-hand panel, then click Done to apply the changes to your image.

## Steps

1. In your WordPress dashboard, go to Media.
2. Select on Add new to upload your image file .
3. After uploading, click on the image then select Edit.
4. In the right-hand panel, you’ll see a field labeled Alt Text .
5. Enter a descriptive text for the image in this field. This text should describe the content or function of the image.
6. Click Done to apply the alt text to your image.
