# How To Add An Event In Mixpanel

> To add a custom event in Mixpanel, create or select a board, choose Insight Report, click the Select Event field under Metrics, and select the + Create button. Name the event, combine pre-existing events, and save your new configuration.

## Steps

1. Create a new board using the + New Board button or select an existing one.
2. Customize your board and enter its name.
3. Select the Add to Board option.
4. Select Insight Report .
5. Under Metrics , click on the Select Event field.
6. Next to the search bar, click on the + Create button.
7. Custom events work as a combination for existing events. Enter a name for your new custom event and then proceed to + Add pre-existing events which will together make up the new event.
8. Select an event to include from the list.
9. Add another or continue.
10. When done, click on Save .
11. You have now created a custom event in mixpanel that tracks a combination of other events.
