# How to Change Background Color in Mailchimp Templates

> To change background color in Mailchimp templates, hit Create in your dashboard, click Design email, and select Design Email in the Content section. ## Steps

1. In the left column of your dashboard, hit Create .
2. Click on Design email to create an email.
3. In the Content section, hit Design Email .
4. You will be redirected to the template gallery. You can pick a template from the list of options available or Start from Scratch. Click on Apply to start with a template.
5. In the Styles section, select Email under the Desktop tab. Then, click on the circle under Background color .
6. Pick your favorite background color, and it will be reflected in your email canvas.
