# How to change issue type in jira

> To change an issue type in Jira, open the ticket from your board, click the three dots menu, and select Move. Choose the new issue type, hit Next, update the status for the converted issue, and confirm to finish your changes.

## Steps

1. Open the Jira ticket from your board.
2. Click on the three dots menu on the top right and hit Move .
3. If it's a services project, you might need to move the ticket to a different project that has the other issue type configured. (Scrum board etc.)
4. Choose the new issue type you want (Example: "Story.")
5. Hit Next .
6. Update the Status to which the converted issue should be set.
7. Confirm to finish.
