# How to Create a Mailchimp Template

> To create a template in Mailchimp, click Create on your dashboard, select Template under the Email menu, and click Get Started. Choose a template option or hover over the Create from Scratch tile to hit Apply. Name your template, save it, and edit elements using the Content and Layouts tabs. Customize desktop and mobile styles, then hit Save and Exit.

## Steps

1. On your dashboard, click on Create in the left column.
2. Under the Email menu in the left column, select Template .
3. Click on Get Started to begin designing your template.
4. You can pick from a variety of template options available or create one from scratch.
5. Hover over the Create from Scratch tile to create a fresh template and hit Apply .
6. Pick a name for your template and hit Save .
7. In the Add option, edit template elements such as Heading, Button, Video, Paragraph, Code, etc. under the Content tab.
8. In the Add option, pick a layout for your template under the Layouts tab.
9. In the Styles option, customize your template for desktop under the Desktop tab.
10. In the Styles option, customize your template for mobile under the Mobile tab.
11. Optimize your mail for amplified click rates, and hit Save and Exit to finish your template.
