# How to Create a New Measure in Power BI

> To create a new measure in Power BI Desktop, open the Table view and select New Measure. Write your DAX formula in the empty field, click the check icon to commit the expression, and press Enter. Your new measure will appear in the Data pane with a calculator icon.
