# How to create a project in jira

> To create a project in Jira, go to Projects in the top menu bar and select Create project. Choose a project template from the library or by product, select a project type and team type, and click Create Project. Finally, start adding issues by clicking Create Issue, entering details, and hitting Create.

## Steps

1. Go to Projects in the top menu bar. Select Create project .
2. Select from the Project templates. Templates are grouped into a library of use-case-based categories.
3. Under Products, templates are grouped by Jira Cloud products. Choose a category or product.
4. Choose a project type: either a company-managed project or a team-managed project. Learn more about team-managed projects.
5. Select your Team type .
6. Hit Create Project
7. Your Project is now created. You can start adding issues to it by clicking on Create Issue .
8. Add issue details and hit Create .
9. Your Project board is ready to be used!
