# How to create a sprint in jira

> To create a sprint in Jira, head to the Backlog, click Create sprint, and name it. Drag a card into the new sprint, click Start Sprint, and update the sprint details in the pop-up box to finish creation and view the sprint board.

## Steps

1. Head over to Backlog in the left sidebar.
2. Click Create sprint at the top of the backlog section.
3. Name your sprint.
4. Click and hold your card.
5. Drag it and drop to the Sprint you just created.
6. Click on Start Sprint.
7. In the pop-up box, update the sprint name, start and end dates, and a sprint goal
8. Your Sprint is now created. And you will be taken to the sprint board.
