# How to create subtask in jira

> To create subtasks in Jira, open the parent issue, click Add a child issue, name the subtasks, and optionally define their type. Then, view them on the board by clicking the view option.

## Steps

1. Open the issue for which you'd like to create subtasks.
2. Click on Add a child issue .
3. Name your Subtasks .
4. You can also define the Subtask type .
5. You will be able to see an option to view your subtasks on the board.
6. Click on it and your subtasks will be visible on your board.
