# How to Get a Mailchimp API Key

> To generate an API key in Mailchimp, click your account icon to open Profile, select API keys under the Extras tab, and click Create A Key. Name your key, click Generate Key, and copy it to your clipboard before hitting Done.

## Steps

1. Click on your account icon on the top right corner of the dashboard and select Profile .
2. Under the Extras tab, go to API keys .
3. Under Your API keys, click on Create A Key .
4. Give your API key a name and click on Generate Key .
5. Congratulations! Your API key has now been generated. To copy it, click on Copy To Clipboard and hit Done .
6. To view your key(s), you can go to the API keys page and view them under the Your API keys section.
