# How to Give Descript Permission to Record Audio

> To grant microphone access in Descript, click the Record button in your project to trigger the prompt, then click Allow. Alternatively, open System Settings or System Preferences, go to Privacy & Security, select Microphone, and toggle the switch next to Descript.

## Steps

1. In your project, click on the Record button (either for screen recording or audio recording).
2. If it's your first time recording in Descript, the app will prompt you to grant microphone access. Click Allow start recording.
3. Alternatively, select System Settings (or System Preferences , depending on your macOS version).
4. Select the Privacy & Security section, then click on Microphone .
5. Toggle the switch next to Descript to allow it to access your microphone.
