# How to Sum in Power BI

> To sum data in Power BI, select a visual, go to the Modelling tab, and choose New measures. Type the DAX code and select Sum followed by the column name. Click the check icon to commit the measure, which can then be used in any visual.

## Steps

1. Click on the visual and go to the 'Modelling' tab.
2. Select 'New measures' from the 'Modelling' tab.
3. Type the DAX code in the bar and select 'Sum'.
4. Select the column name.
5. Click on the check icon to commit.
6. Now you can use a measure in any visual to sum up in Power BI.
