# How to unmute on teams?

> To unmute in Microsoft Teams, click the three dots icon, select Settings, and choose Privacy. Next, ensure the keyboard shortcut to unmute is on so your microphone is unmuted by default in instant meetings. You can also mute the microphone using the mic button during the meeting.

## Steps

1. Click on the three dots icon
2. Select 'Settings' from the dropdown list
3. Choose the 'Privacy' option
4. Make sure 'Keyboard shortcut to unmute' is on
5. When you start a meeting instantly, the microphone will be unmuted by default
6. You can mute the microphone by clicking on the mic button during your meeting if required
