1. Open Microsoft Access but do not open the database yet. Select 'Open'.

2. Under the 'Open' category, select 'Browse'.

3. Select the database file you want to protect. Click the arrow next to the 'Open' button and choose 'Open Exclusive'.

4. After opening the database in Exclusive mode, go to 'File'.

5. Click 'Info'.

6. Select 'Encrypt with Password'.

7. Enter a password in the dialog box.

8. Confirm the password by entering it again and click 'OK' to apply the password.

9. Close the database and reopen it to ensure the password works as expected. You will now be prompted to enter the password each time you open the database.
