Navigate to Setup > Object Manager.
Select the object where you want the field to be available (the one associated with your record types). (Example: Account)
Click on Fields & Relationships.
Click on New to create a new field.
Select the Data type.
Define the field properties like data type, label, and other relevant settings.
Hit Next again.
Hit Next.
And finally hit Save.
