How to Add a Custom Field in Jira



Guide

  1. Click on the gear icon in the top-right corner.

  2. Select 'Issues'.

  3. On the left-hand side of the page, under the 'Fields' section, click on 'Custom fields'.

  4. In the custom fields section, click the 'Create custom field' button usually found at the top-right.

  5. Jira will prompt you to select a type of field. You can choose from different field types and click 'Next' once you have chosen your preferred field.

  6. Provide a name and description for the custom field. Click 'Create' to move to the next step.

  7. Select the appropriate screens and click 'Update'.

  8. The custom field is now created and available for use in the selected projects and screens.
