How to Add a New Issue Type in Jira



Guide

  1. Click on the gear icon in the top-right corner.

  2. Select 'Issues'.

  3. In the Issues section on the left-hand side, click on 'Add issue type'.

  4. Enter a name and description for the new issue type and select the issue type. Click 'Add' to confirm.

  5. Under the same 'Issues' menu, click 'Issue type schemes' on the left side.

  6. Once the new issue type is created, associate the new issue type by clicking the ellipsis icon of your preferred project and select 'Edit'.

  7. Click 'Add all' to add the new issue to the current scheme.

  8. Click 'Save' to apply changes.
