How to Get the Current Month in Power BI

Select your visual and go to the 'Modeling' tab.
Select 'New measure'.
Type the DAX formula to get the current month.
Click the check icon to apply and commit changes.
The new measure will be automatically added to your 'Data' pane. Click on it and add it to your visual.
Following these steps gives you the current month as a number.
