How to use formulas in notion



Guide

  1. Navigate to a database in which you would like to introduce a property of the type Formula.

  2. Click on the (+) add icon to add a new property to your database.

  3. In the property type, search for Formula.

  4. Click on Formula to select type.

  5. Customize additional options and close.

  6. Click on the empty formula field to modify it.

  7. You now have the option to enter a formula using various tools such as functions. Scroll through the list to view them.

  8. You can view their correct usage, required fields and description on the right hand side.

  9. Enter your own customized formula using functions, properties, conditions and outputs. Our example uses a formula to check if the property Progress is not empty then output 1, else 2.

  10. Click on Done to apply.

  11. Your property column will be filled based on the output of your Formula.
