Go to the 'Create' tab.
Select the 'Query Design' button.
Add the table containing the field you want to count by clicking the 'Add Selected Tables'.
Drag the desired field into the query grid.
Click the 'Totals' button in the ribbon (Σ) symbol.
In the 'Total' row for the field, select 'Sum' from the dropdown.
Run the query by clicking the 'Run' button.
